The Origin of Qingming Festival
The Qingming Festival has a history of more than 2500 years. In ancient times, it was also known as the Spring Festival, March Festival, Ancestor Worship Festival, Tomb Sweeping Festival, Tomb Sweeping Festival, and Ghost Festival. It is known as the three famous “Ghost Festival” in China, along with the Mid Yuan Festival on July 15th and the Cold Clothes Festival on October 1st. Of the 24 solar terms, the only one that is both a solar term and a festival is the Qingming Festival.
In 2013, the Qingming Festival was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage lists.
